Remember going through Zeebrugge <cough> years ago when we went on a short holiday in De Haan. Hopefully we will be able to travel again in 2021! Our stocks of Chimay, Grimbergen, Le Chouffe and other ambré beverages are near a critical low! The Belgian Beer Factory will be visited. France for 'some' cheese (OK, quite a lot). Germany for bread and sausage. Then back to Belgium for some chocolate and then France again for aperitifs. 🙂

So got up made tea for the Mrs and espresso for me. Sitting in bed and looked out the window. There is the blackbird staring in at us. It is the same blackbird that we fed earlier in the year. Wasn't much on the ground fot it so went and put some down for it. Seemed pleased.

Update: Wife did say I probably should have put some clothes on whilst feeding it.

no offence towards France, but Belgian does have some good cheeses! Belgian cheeses

i'm very fond of Picon. Not with beer or pure, but with some white wine

Of course (hadn't realised thee were so many) and will try some picon when I see some, same for Germany too, nice smoked cheeses there and I am not a fan of smoked foods.

As for wine, €1 for 1.5l is fine for me! Have done vineyard tours and honestly cannot taste a significant difference between a €10 wine and a €200 wine.

I agree, wine doesn't have to be that expensive to be "excellent". It's the brand or "the print on the bottel" you pay...

Was bright here too. Could have gone and got a proper camera or ordered a phone with night mode. Couldn't be bothered doing either though new phone is needed as the battery on the Mrs' Windows phone is nearly deed and she can have my iPhone SE. Choice between iPhone 11 and SE(2020). 12 doesn't have enough extra though the mini is quite nice.

Cold enough out to need a hat!

We can get speculaaskruiden but cannot find any biscuits - may be too late in the season. Is it similar to biscoff biscuits as that is what I get when I search for speculoos?

After a lot of thought ordered an iPhone SE (2020). Wife will get my old SE to replace her Windows Lumia 640 phone. Actually like the 640 and has a decent camera for such an old device. Shame Windows phones didn't become more popular. Had quite a few Windows mobile devices over the years and they were generally pretty good.

New SE seems to have a decent compromise of cost and performance and not too big. XR was a bit too old and 11 whilst reasonable just gets expensive with more memory. Have played with a 12 mini and really liked it but again just gets too expensive above 64gb. Probably use the phone more as a camera than an actual phone so to start spending £1k on a phone when that would be a decent mirrorless camera...
