No Fly rules - BF2 - Opinions please

Hi everyone, this one pops up every now and then and has been discussed also back and forth....stil I feel that there is no "real" advice other than common sense and therefore still find this ruile a bit "bubbly" if you know what I mean

Excessive use of tanks and apc's round after round might also get you kicked as we like to share the armour out between all players, not just the selfish whores.

We have many funny characters on BF2 No Fly who p* off many of us as they are constact "sitting in metal box and getting millions of points" sissys.....so when is excessive really excessive ? Everyone has different opinions about that and there are definetely people who either dont do anything else than using armours or "kill" a game right away when low number of players and they rally with the armour from one flag to other and shoot you into pieces at your spawn points right away, some preferrably from good distance.

So, is there a middle way, is it black and white or what can we do to make this a bit more clear ? Dont get me wrong, I also like using tanks, no question, but I also feel that the team work and fun in squads also comes when using infantry and also getting to more tricky situations to solve as squad and other than just using the armour axe and thats it....that is honestly killing a lot of my fun at least playing on this server in the past weeks.

So, would like to hear all your opinions too .....

And in case someone doesnt like my style when doing admin, if I stepped on someones toes too much then pls accept sincere apologies, it is USUALLY not meant person....

I think this rule is pretty much un policeable, it is annoying when you see the same names again and again killing with armour and for sure there are regular heavy metal whores we all know who they are, its the way they want to play so hey ho, who are we to say how someone can play the game.
Maybe there could be say some regular nights a week where it is Infantry only ??

I think that tankwhoring is problem what makes people left server. I think admins should kick/ban people who:

- Sits always in tank round to round and never do anything else
- Rarely goes to take flags, just repeating same cycle Rape=>Repair=>Repeat forever
- Teamscore is something like 5 when round ends.

I think this kind of guys should get kick/ban for being selfish asshole and ruining everybodys fun.

That is exactly my point, fair enough we accept that, fine, but then let us remove this sentence, as otherwise it is neither black or white but grey and up to everyones own feeling/view of the situation.
And Heik, your point is exactly what made me think of it again, as people getting tired of the same guys again and again....I dont mind to be shot by tanks, but if it is the same guy 100th time in a row it gets annoying and they have then in the end super points AND usually it is the ones with the highest ranks. This is I find extremely poor, bad teamplay and it just ruins fun.....and it makes me a bit frustrated that I (despite not being one of the old clan cocks here) cant play on OUR server because GUEST PLAYERS ruin my and other peoples fun.

The reason i play anti tank most the time .

thats it.

i play bf2 since the beginning in 2005 and there are always "tankwhores" out there. even more our server had no aircombat the armor is the strongest weapon and the hets and heli´s missed to be a counterbalance to the tanks.

however, i said it in the "old" forum as well. do some teamwork. most of you sitting in TS and where is the problem to say: "c´mon guys, next round we do a anti tank squad to kick the tankwhore asses." or even do a c4 squad and take 2 or 3 jeeps to blow up the tanks. just some guest player will fast see that they got his ass kicked and leave.

well and easiest way could be to talk with that guys. say them that it is annoying you that they sitting in tank round after round.

some guys a specialist in armor fights, some of you are very good at some weapons too because you play this hundrets of hours. look at fnose. he is very good at antitank and some of you moaning about him that he cant take a nother kit. i think to want someone take a other kit as he mostly use is selfish too, or not?

what i will say is, there is always a "antidote" against some weapons. but if you yourself still standing in your favorite kit the only way is to moan.

i tell you the little problem (maybe not ) we have . certain guys do sit in tanks driving around not taking flags just mowing down infantry. if we all decide to go anti tank to take them out ,which is fun by the way, we concentrate on destroying them and next thing the enemy infantry has taken all our flags and game over . lets face it without air combat bf2 no fly must be a dream come true for them :} i would not see them kicked for being in tank all the time but possibly just for driving around not taking flags and sitting in a good spot to get easy kills . i do personally like to use other kits but as btreeze suggested its allways handy to have a rocket handy for vehicles ... and increasingly for taking out infantry !! "if you cant beat them join them" i try not to do this often though because i am not a fan of rocketing infantry , I personally think they should be used on vehicles only or snipers lol .
i have mentioned it to one guy in tank who really just said but i like it?
the bottom line is is it right that these guys ruin other peoples enjoyment of they game and does that need addressing ??
its abit like freedom of speech .... if someone called me lots of names i would still want to crack him one lol.

Laka, that is not the point. I agree with you fully, but then let us take the sentence out, as it will always lead to mis-interpretation.....when is excessive excessive ??? Get that sentence off, the problem still is around in game then and we have to cope with it. But as long as it is kind of part of the rules, it will always be an issue.

And as hackers said, if peoples enoyment gets less and less (especially if it is clan people) it should still be adressed somehow. And we all know WHO these guys are constantly.....

It is a tricky one this , If we work as a squad and stay together with a range of players you got a good attack with infantry and tank busters to mines c4 anti tank, i can kill tanks all day it great i used play medic all time on inf servers and in matches but when their tanks around they can ruin the party fast on a tank whore map on zarter wet lands. We got to play and cap together strength in numbers.

I play engineer most of the time and enjoy going after tanks/APCs with mines, cut off their movements. Sometimes they see the mines, step out to defuse and I use their tank to mow them down ............Hmmmmm life is good.
I have more issues with the self medicating pussies that jump over you and dont revive.
So in my opinion tank whores....WHORE..ON.

I play engineer on any map with more than 4 tanks per side with planes.....love to see them all hugging together and just drop one mine in the middle and a grenade to pesuade them to move...lol....BIG BADDA BOOM

however on maps like karkand if the usmc tank sits on that road next to a supply crate and fires at the hotel i dont even warn them...Kick "you know why"

and usually take the tank and give it to another team mate

i dont see any reason to kick a player for sitting next to a supply crate in a tank, what one
should do is get an anti-tank, c4 jeep and kill his ass... done enough times they will change
tactics or do something else...

to kick them for it is beyond me...

yea but still, i've always believed that as an admin we hold up
the rules, players look upto us to act like we want our players to act.

ie. i wouldnt kill a fly with a cruisemissile... well maybe riggs would

but my point, i've always warned twice, then killed the player once if my message wasnt understood
only then i've kicked them...

cause i've tried to encourage players to kill the said "tankwhore" with the means
that the game itself gives us.

lol I don't have such big problems with this rule, sure I can moan somethimes when some are whoring like shit but I don't kick them for it.. It usally ends up them spawnraping.....Or me srawing their asses.

I vote for "whores getting killed by me" rule .

Even IF were getting "no tank whore" rule, can someone tell me WHEN a player is whoring?? after two kills or..........what??

imo anyone who sits up the road with the tank and apc WITH A SUPLLY CRATE and fires on the hotel in karkand is asking for trouble!!

i watch the kill count in the top left and if they make no attempt to move on the flag they get kicked!

we have a huge amount of regular players on the server who it is more important to look after than a fresh player on the server who basically bends the rules to there benefit. That player upon return, i will explain there wrong doings and it more than likely doesnt happen again... i would rather instant kick a new guest and explain why on return than have 5-6 regulars complaining that nothing is being done about it!

A prime example of the instant kick rule is as follows

a player who is bombing really badly to the point that i'm laughing and trying to take him out with a tank is worth warning him and mentioning how bad he is in a plane and really should just come here to enjoy the no fly rules cause he cant fly for shit...so funny i left a guy on the server last week on dalian plant bombing me for 10 minutes at the south dock...his k/d was 0/9 and then left!!!

another example of the instant kick was on clean sweep yesterday... some newbie joined and flew and bombed 4 in 1... instant ban and off you go to the forums...not from me i might add!! think it was spunky based on some of the ban i read ;-)

another example was today on fushee pass by shunt... guy was kicked for air combat... guy comes back and says wtf kicked for this kicked for that cant i do anything on this server...so shunt kicked him again saying read the rules and ya wont get kicked...and guess what

"OH I SEE NOW, NO AIR COMBAT SERVER" doh

the guy said sorry and we laughed at him a little but he stuck around and stayed in game!!

problem 1 how many people are so ignorant ingame that its obvious they have not read the rules on the way in!! i have actually started a new map and all ready written "!k playername f" before the guy has actually took of in the plane just ready to press the enter key!!!!! yep people are that stupid!!

i really dont know how to encourage new guests to read the rules on the way in, maybe we could change the NO FLY SERVER add on the entry page to NO AIR COMBAT SERVER

in my other opinion all the other rules we have are "no brainers".. (apart from a sniper being allowed anywhere on the map!!)

if truth be known ya CAN teach an old dog new tricks and i think we should instigate the round ban more often. I spend 2 - 3 hours a day playing with regs without kicking or even warning anyone and then you will just get a 30 minute spell where you spend all your time typing warnings to players and your keyboard turns white hot! this is disruptive behaviour...if they come on the server and cause grief and hold up 2-3 admins games watching them its "off ya go see ya next round when you understand the rules"

OK, then lets come to a conclusion and say we accept people like Sgt Buzz Gordon, GBoris and you name them all but THEN lets take this sentence out. It will otherwise leave too much room for speculation or own views.
I had the first gentlemen yesterday again in game and even on Blue Pearl he shot like a moron into the nfanrty area. In the end I think it was this game or the one before with 50:4 kills. I told him doing like this is not so much appreciated by others and he said....whats your problem, then do infantry only server. So you see, he didnt get the point at all. I didnt even had to look who it was in the tank coming each time again....always him. so I give up on this topic but then ask to remove it. Pls do so or put it up for vote....otherwise I really get a heartrate of 180 if I see this guy again

personally i think armour apcs and tanks should be used for flag assault and maybe defend only as in near flags only. otherwise i find it a very unfair way of playing and really don't understand that these people actually enjoy just driving around mowing down infantry . then they just puff smoke drive away and repair . heck i don't even like sitting on top of buildings or hillsides firing into enemy bases !
i definitely would not want infantry only servers because i enjoy tank killing. i like to drive them myself sometimes but you will NEVER see me doing anything but taking bases with them or engaging enemy armour. i will admit sometimes these constant armour whores do get on my tits sometimes . they even wait at armour spawn points. its obviously a matter of opinion and that's mine . i would like to kick some of them for it ..... yes really . they only give a shit about themselves that is why they play like that period .

I agree 100% with Bond007(6) and fucoffhackers. That is so annoying watch same selfish jerks every fakin day doing same spawnrape/tankwhoring. We should use same kind of rule like Panda Nation have, it's something like "No using map dominant vehicles round to round." And i suggest too round bans for heli/jet killers if they continue aircombat after kicking.
