Edinburgh

Edinburgh is currently stupidly busy and even worse when the festivals are on. Stirling is about 30 miles away.

  • Castle is worth a look
  • Edinburgh museum
  • Art galleries
  • Plenty of pubs and restaurants
  • Camera obscura
  • Hop on/off bus tour takes you to most tourist sites
Stirling and nearby
  • Castle, very nice and less busy than Edinburgh
  • Jail (near castle) is a good tour
  • Falkirk: wheel / Kelpies / Rosebank distillery

We'll start with London in second July week, after seven days go by train to Inverness (5 days), also by train to Edinburgh (4 days). Don't plan to rent a car. Thanks already for these ideas! We'll take a look and see what fits in.

Shure that you have a plan but just in case.

This map shows you where major tourist attractions are in Edinburgh.

The Hop on/off bus info .

Ordinary buses are pretty good but the route maps etc are utter shite. There is an app for Lothian Buses which helps to route plan. Buses are all contactless payment and each journey is £2 or £5 for a day. Their website is below and there should be a link to the app.

The train journey to Inverness should be nice. Scenery is stunning up that way. We are going the Jacobite Train in July and that goes from Fort William and across the Hogworts viaduct.

Hope that helps.
