Funny sort of day was a mixed bag of getting stuff ready to go away and some shopping.

However, the big news of the days was brilliantly described as:

UK porn blacklist is dead after government abandons age verification - how much cash was spaffed up the wall on this joke of an idea. 😳🤣

Been getting ready for my Mum’s hip op. Slowly going nuts. Apart from the usual “you don’t have to shout” well turn your hearing aid on and other stuff. At this rate she won’t need an operation.

Glen only 3 day....or was it 3 weeks :whistle: ....you have my sympathy

i remember in that situation at one holyday with my mom. 2 weeks mallorca and we just quit smoking short time before. after some days i said to my wife "...either i buy zigaretten now, or i sink the old bitch somewhere here in the sea..." :oops:o_O

😂

I know she is old and so on but we keep hearing the same story, again and again, and again…. What makes it worse is that my wife is standing behind her threatening to choke her and I have to keep a straight face.

Then there is the “my TV has the picture zoomed - I accidentally out my hand on the remote and it changed”. 🤥

So the TV remote had the ability to go into the satellite box menus, change the screen setting from 16:9 to 4:3 in 2 different places, then press the green button to confirm those changes, and then change the TV settings to zoom just by accidentally putting your hand on it. Wow! That was a magic touch!

At least we get rid of her for about 4 Days at 07:00 tomorrow.

Did get these crutches though. Really helps with walking as spreads the weight when walking in a way that a walking stick doesn’t. Need to practice with them though as I get out of a steady rhythm and end up looking like a demented long legged wasp! 🤣

Once we get home I am sure that I can modify them to include that along with some active armour and C4 holder and grenade launcher. Should also be able to add trigger operated spike in one and pump action shotgun in the other. Will be fine for security checks.

Needed those. Just taken mum to hospital and they have now decided that there is an 85% chance of a failure or making things worse so the have cancelled the op. Why did it take till now to say that? F***ing fuming that the last few days have been stressed filled for her and they wait until she was admitted to cancel it. 🤬

Such a waste of everyone’s time and their resources.

Might have been! 😳

To be fair the people she saw today were just being honest. They were saying that the hip op could be successful but the epidural or anaesthetic could cause more harm like kidney failure, stroke, heart issues and death. Whereas previous people had said there was a risk but not at those levels which makes you think they were either wrong or not being honest. She has had about 5 visits for tests, pre-op stuff and so on that could have been avoided and thus wasting their time and resources.

Her decision, based on their advice today is right and we now need to look at making things easier for her around the house and for getting out and about.

The downside is that the pretty good odds that a sizeable server fund donation may be delayed. 😝

Today I have started reading the Undetectable poisons that cause natural symptoms in humans and similar tomes. Just in case she stresses us out over the next week or so. 😄

The West Mid was one of the hospitals I used to control the renal ambulances. We later just subbed the work out to a cab company that operates from just inside the West Mids front entrance (Wheel get you there 24/7) for cost reasons.
I also had Ealing, Charing Cross (where I was based), St Charles, Northwick Park, Hayes renal, Central Mid and Watford hospitals renal units, turning out around 2000 journeys a week. I dont do it now as the contract was taken over by another company and I opted for redundancy as Im just months from retirement and made economic sense with 14 years service to take the money and run :).
The first time I went to the West Mid (before controlling I was on the road 20+/- years ago) I was smoking a cigarette around the back of the West Mid (Park road entrance) and everybody was giving me dirty looks I couldnt understand why. Only when I was looking for somewhere to put the cigarette end did I realise I had been leaning on a big 20 odd foot Oxygen cylinder (its fenced off now) and thought shittt, no wonder the looks :sick::LOL:

I was actually born there! Apparently I cried so much at one point my mum was going to lob me out of the window! Has changed.
