Went to Sir Walter Scott's (apparently he is famous for something) house at Abbotsford today (down near the border). Also a picture of the Leaderfoot Railway Viaduct built in 1863 taken from the Drygrange Road Bridge that was built in 1780 over the river Tweed. Gourmet food of the day was a chip butty that was rather nice! Weather wasn't bad either!

A phone in a ziplok bag works to protect it from water. Suck the air out of the bag so it is very close to the camera lens, make sure you turn off the auto screen lock and then once sealed use the volume + control as the shutter button.

In that case i would just bring my sony actioncamera xp, waterproof by design.

Don't rell me, you have to walk upstairs the whole tower for each time you will slide ??
Yes i will tell you that, other tower is slightly higher even. As well, some slides are with inflatables which you habe to carry up the stairs as well.

They might come from Eindhoven Airbase, any idea glen?

All three flight tracks just appeared/started around Frankfort. Looks like they just switched on the transponders there as there isn't any air bases at that point. The description says they are unpressurised which explains why they were relatively low. We occaisonally get flights in/out of Edinburgh going over but the plane spotter in me thought these sounded different.

Dang you know a lot about them. I often have the normal C130s over, im living near an airbase where the dutch ones are stationed.

I use flightradar and planefinder apps. They give you the basic info and then wikipedia for more details. It used to be quite busy in the skies above us with traffic to/from the US so was interested in what was flying over. Obviously with the current situation there are a lot less flights.

When I was a kid I lived under one of the flight paths for Heathrow (about 2 miles away) and used to have planes going over every 2 minutes. That was when they were a lot noisier than they are now. I could tell what they were by the engine noise. 🤓 Even remember seeing aircraft like Constellations and a lot of other prop airliners! My dad smuggled me through airport security so that we could go on and have a look around the first 747 that landed there 12 Jan 1970 (N736PA). I was 12.

With engines being more powerful you can hear the vortex from the planes shortly after they pass. They are at about 300m when the pass my Mums house and a couple of weeks ago she had some roof tiles ripped of by lone that went past. They are going to replace the whole roof with tiles that cannot be moved soon.
