@glenwilson It is also funny how Audis (and not only Audis) after these years started to look so round and had their "inflatable" look and now they are slowly returning to their edges.

Osman the racing driver ;)
Looking at the pic it looks to me like you use your left foot for clutch and braking ( ware on the pedal rubber ) :unsure:πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Sometimes i try to press brake with my left foot if there is too much traffic and my right foot is tired but still cant control with left foot. I realized now that gas pedal was cleaner than other two πŸ™‚

Left foot braking is a skill I have never mastered, its usually no brake or too much brake. Can also be very dangerous if you get it wrong. Its meant to keep the revs up and turbos spooled but I find it easier to flat foot shift where you dont take your foot off the gas to shift, easy from 1-2, 3-4, 5-6, a bit harder 2-3 and 4-5, can get costly on gearboxes if you get it wrong. Second gearbox in this car now πŸ€πŸ™„

Indeed.
Your brain is trained to put the left pedal real hard down in order to shift. But braking is a more subtle act. Normaly.... 😁

My car now is automated shift. I drive a lot in queues, so it was always: first, second, first, first, first...
I miss the old cars where you had to shift on 3500 tpm. Now you should drive, according to the onboard computer, in 5th gear at 50km/h...

Have never had an automatic gearbox in a car I have owned. Rental cars were nearly always auto especially when driving on the wrong side of the road. The exception was when we hired a car in Germany. Changing gears with right hand after about40 years of doing it with my left was interesting!

On my Mk1 Escort, the quick shift box meant that you could skip using the clutch, quick lift off the gas, snick the gear up and carry on. I think having Scandinavian genes probably helps with left foot braking! 😁 Quickly discovered I don't have Scandinavian genes.

Our car flashes a light at you when you are supposed to change up/down. Followed its advice one month and fuel consumption was the same as when I ignored it so just put some black tape over it as it was annoying ( a bit like the wife doing the 'now would be the time to do.... but you cannot use duct tape on her (that I want to discuss anyway 🀣)).

I had to reach to wikipedia for my first motorbike... which I drove when I was about 14-15...I think

my (step)grandpa then left this for me when he died...(again no the "actual bike") but we worked in the same type together and fully restored it...

funnily enough, my father 'stole' it from me...and perhaps used the money for his 'business'... what a dick!

Indeed. It also feel like you are using your left hand when you are right handed.

I see almost everyone had a bike. And i think this a culture from Europe. People really like bicycle and motorbike. It also refreshes traffic, healthy and more social. I always amaze seeing a multi millionaire guy goes to work with bicycle :)

Not really, atleast in my case it's because you can get a driving licence for motorbikes sooner than for cars. So I started on the scootery thing... which is usually tolerated in villages even without proper licence... and then had the big motorbike later.

Never had a motorbike of any sort and not really had any interest in them. When I started work I used to cycle but hated it as there isn't any respect of cyclists safety over here. Did get another bike a while back when my knees were functional, but learnt that the advantage of living on the top of a hill is that the ride down is easy, getting back up not so! Yes I did get some lycra shorts too. Try getting that image out of your memory. 🀣

Looking back I think I have been on a motorbike twice. I am about 190cm tall. Once was with a girl who was 150cm and very slim on some sort of Triumph. The second time was with a work mate on his new sporty looking bike and he was about 160cm. I was absolutely terrified and no way was I leaning over to go around a corner. 😱

For just getting about the scooter type vehicle seems a sensible option. My mum could do with a small, short range plug-in EV that would enable her to go shopping and local errands but doesn't have a massive range. 20km would do.

My list, bikes
Vespa 90 Racer
Triumph Tiger Cub
Kawasaki KH250 + Yamaha FS1E
Suzuki GT380
Kawasaki Z650
Suzuki Slingshot 750
Honda CBR600

Cars
Cortina Mk2 1600E s/h
Cortina Mk3 2L s/h
Volvo 144 auto s/h from dad
Fiesta 1.1L new
Fiesta 1.4S new
Rover 3.5V8 auto s/h
Escort 1.6 new
Focus 1.6 new (green)
Focus 1.8 new (grey)
Focus 1.8 new (black)
Astra 1.9 sri 150 Diesel new

Both the CBR600 and the Astra I still have today, the bike is in a few pieces as two failed "O"rings on the oil cooler have leaked oil into the coolant leaving this clay like shit in it (3 years ago) Thought it would make a nice project
for my retired time (so far not got round to it πŸ™„).
The Astra bought 2008 chipped from 148BHP to 202BHP (10 maps=20% fuel economy), hardened suspension, rear anti-roll bar fitted, performance brakes, after market intercooler + loads of little presents I have bought for it and I love everything about this car. As this car is now classed as a high polluting car, I have to get rid of it before October (Im gutted, could possibly lose the wife and the kids but please not the car :ROFLMAO:).
As there is only me and the wife now, I have been looking at Fiestas again and the new ST-3 has caught my eye ;), we'll see !

Seeing everyone includes company cars, I realized mine would be quite interesting list:

  • 1987 Renault 5
  • 2002 Fiat Palio
  • 1998 Fiat Marea
  • 2008 Ford Focus RS
  • 2006 Ford Mondeo
  • 2015 Hyundai i40 Sedan
  • 2015 Hyundai Tucson
  • 2009 Toyota Auris
  • 2012 Hyundai i40
  • 2006 Hyundai Santa Fe (Private)
  • 2019 Hyundai i30N
  • 2019 Hyundai Tucson
  • 2019 Hyundai Kona
  • 2020 Hyundai Kona EV
  • 2020 Hyundai Ioniq EV

I hope not, it was horrible... 1.1 and 32 kW if I remember right... sometimes it felt like going in the first gear and jumping out to push it up the hill.

Renault 5 was OK. Did Home to London in just over 6 hours (at night and before speed cameras were everywhere) not that I went above 70mph. 32kw? What happened to horse power!! 😊

I feel the same way, horses is horses and kw has the hint of electric car :wtf:

I drove quite a few electric cars... I'd hate to have one, but ...

32 kW is about 42 horsepower. It was the smallest engine I think.
