Got some of these little LED lamps. Each has 6 LEDs that go pretty bright (but are adjustable).

Plug them into a USB port and you can adjust the brightness on the tough panel on the back. Useful for travelling as you can use them as a night light in an unfamiliar room powered by a battery pack or a USB charger port. Also useful for having on the back of a PC or TV where there isn't any lights if you need to plug/unplug something. With a small USB battery they would be a useful torch and with a USB extension lead you could get light into confined space.

Cost about 90p each on eBay.

Yes , I have a few (OK, five (that I can find)) of those too! These little things really are handy though - have one in my wallet for "just in case".

And I'm happy to come out as a geek/nerd.
