If it was a MasterChef recipe then it is 'caramelised' not burnt. Excuse works for anything. Do you like my 'caramelised potatoes' = I accidentally forgot about them in the oven and cremated them.
perhaps, a long time ago, some Spanish man/woman forgot her cheesecake in the oven.
