I have been getting a lot of problems with my puter for the last 3 weeks where for no reason it just shuts down randomly on any state, under load or just idling. I first thought it was temp related so checked all fans were working and filters clean and still shutting down randomly from 3mins to several hours. Presumed it to be a power supply problem (event viewer = kernel power error).
I have a Corsair HX 1050W power supply so whipped it out and shorted the two pins to see if the fan was working on it, when I switch on the fan spins for about 1 rev and stops which I thought to be normal as it doesnt need to spin unless it gets hot. Still no wiser decided to go shopping and ordered a 1200W power supply and ended up getting a new case too .
New power supply on the way lets get inside the old one (keep away from the 2 big capacitors inside) hoovered the little dust inside cleaned the fan, tested again and still 1 rev and stop. As the new PS will take 2 days to arrive decide to whack the old PS back in and use it even if it keeps shutting down. New Ps arrived today but the old one hasnt shut down for three days , I got a new motherboard about 1 1/2 years ago and it has always powered up with led fan on for a split second then off for about 2 seconds and then fires up and it has always done that, thought it was a this MB specific thing, wasnt too happy with that as the old MB used to kick in staight away but got used to it. Since putting the old PS back in it is not doing that anymore and kicking in straight away o_Of***ing piece of sh!t. I have checked the fan on the PS a few times since putting it back in but it is never spinning ???.
Anyway new PS going in new case plus water cooling for CPU (got everything just waiting on the block (which Im going to pull apart and machine my own design copper base plate for it with 40% improvement to cooling and better flow, thinking of a patent for my design and sell it to the big boys (y))
When I kept disappearing off the game and reappearing minutes later, I wasnt rage quitting although a lot of swearing was involved .
Tell you whats going to piss me right off, if it starts doing it with the new PS (hammer time).
THE END

as always the answer is...stop downloading porn :tbag:😂

you run a maschine with a 1200watt PS?? what the hell you doing with that? helping the nasa to run there datacenter at the ISS?? lol

seriously, i had a right equal problem over weeks. my maschine was also going down in a blink of a eye. no bluescreen no nothing. also presume some temporary probs and checked all fans and headpaste and so on. nothing changed. maschine going down as before. sometimes 10 seconds after windownsstart, sometimes after 2 hours gaming, sometime nothing over days.

thanks to amazon and there easy returning i bought a new powersuply. built in FUCK. maschine is going down again. so that was not the broken part.
than bought a motherboard and a new cpu and built all together...starting pc...and after some mintutes...right, maschine was switching off...WWWTTTFFF..:sick::X3:
so all back into boxes and back to amazon. big breanstorming and on and disconnecting different parts to retrace this fucking error in some way...

what should i say. after some tests i found out that one USB connector at the frontpanel of the case making this mess. this port i crashed some month ago whily hanging in the cable from my headset around my legs lol but never had any issues about that had anything done beside of crashing this port. at some time it looks like it decided to will have a revenge and annoy me to hell and back. so i just cut the cable from this usb port off and done...problem solved :D

so try to disconnect your usb ports on your motherboard if this brings you this pain in the ass.

The poxy thing is having a right good laugh at me ! .... Overclocking it to 4.5ghz to stress it a bit and I dont believe it, its running fine a bit hotter but fine ???
The reason for the 1200w PS is, the old one is 1050w and has fucked up and Im not going smaller, adding more fans + water pump as well as the 1080ti all drawing electrickery plus I like a bit of spare to fall back on.
So fuck the planet, the green gases and the carbon footprint I NEED MORE POWER 🛠☢:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Voltages Can be checked in bios but pc has to be restarted and porn download stopped

I have had similar issues and the worst part is diagnosing the issue.

obviously if you just changed something swap that back to see if it changes. If no luck with that the best way is to:
  1. Unplug any leads, power supplies, ports etc. and then clean everythingIPA (isopropyl alcohol not Indian Pale Ale) and a cotton bud is good for cleaning pins as it doesn’t leave any residue and evaporates quickly. Then put everything back together and test.
  2. If the problem still exists goto 3 if it has stopped 👍🏼
  3. Remove everything from the motherboard.
  4. Reinstall the processor after cleaning heatsink and repasting
  5. Install 1 ram stick
  6. Install boot drive
  7. If poss, connect mouse and keyboard direct to motherboard (backpanel rather than a case port)
  8. Connect monitor to onboard graphics (if it has it)
  9. Boot up and run
  10. If all is ok then move ram stick to next slot and repeat.
  11. If that works Ok try the stick in the other slots as before until all have been checked
  12. Then add graphics card and test
  13. Then gradually attach any other devices/cards/connections one at a time and test
At this point it will either be working as it should or identified the culprit.

It is easy to jump to assumptions about the faulty part or cause so resisting the temptation to throw money at it initially will save time and frustration. The Windows event log may give some clues but isn’t always that useful in diagnosing hardware issues.

The IPA I use is linked below. This works out at as the same price as smaller bottles from somewhere like Superdrug. I use it for cleaning my airbrush, thining some paints, degreasing and cleaning, removing sticky marks after removing labels and so on. Always handy to have some around.

The HX1050w seems to be running better than ever before ?? Its mounted at the top of the case so draws air from inside the case. I have been overclocking my 4ghz CPU at 4.5ghz and the 1080ti at max just short of throttling, as they are both air cooled to generate heat in the case, reduced the speed of the 2 exhaust fans so that the hot air is forced more through the PS to try to see if the PS fan will kicks in with the heat but so far (when I have had a look) still havent seen it spinning. Im not too bothered at the moment as I will be transfering the motherboard to the new case (Corsair Carbide 275R) with the new 1200w PS which is full modular so you only use cables you need, the other one is semi modular so that you end up with a load of unused cables bundled into a corner (cable management hell). I will use the old PS to power the completed water loop for a couple of days away from the case to check for leaks. Im using cheap barbed fittings from China which are as good as the rest except the "O" rings are shit but have bought some 11mm viton rings making them as good if not better than the expensive ones. The CPU waterblock is also a cheapo RGB (on a very slow boat) from China, bought only for its mounting and top half as I will machine my own baseplate and then fit to top half.....Just the question of finding the time !!

CAN ANYBODY READING THIS TELL ME Is there such a thing as a waterblock manufacturer in the UK ? not in America or Slovenia, would love to know (y)

UPDATE
Since water cooling my FX8350 and getting an improvment in temp of 20c on all cores (51c on full load) the random crashes continue (ok so I have been pushing it at 4.5ghz and got some nice benchmarks:giggle:). The water cooling has actually made the crashes worse and the problem is the VRMs getting effing hot, northbridge too. Solution 1 would be a fan directed at the VRMs but its going to look shit, solution 2 get another motherboard 990 chipset that can handle the power better, which got me thinking " do I want to throw money at a now obsulete platform ?" with no guarantees. So I bit the bullet and have now ordered a new board, chip and ram :nailbiting:.
Looked at the Ryzens 9 3950X, 9 3900X, do I need 16 or 12 cores ?......No not at that price. 7 3800X or 7 3700X with 8 cores , do I need 8 cores ?...... probably not but settled for the 3800X 🤭

MSI GAMING PLUS AMD X570 AM4 Motherboard
AMD Ryzen 7 3800X Processor
CORSAIR Vengeance LPX DDR4 3600MHz PC RAM - 8 GB x 2
:love::tbag::tbag::tbag::love:

I will be sad to see the FX8350 go as it is (in my view) one of the all time great CPUs for the price....oh well BYE BYE :ROFLMAO::LOL::ROFLMAO:

Had the same Problem with the FX8350. Its a heat problem.

Since December i had a full new System. With a 7 3800X. Works perfect. ;)

I have never been lucky with FX, none of them (with different boards) overclocked well. But at stock settings they where good.

I love the FX8350, its resilient and very forgiving, Ive had it to 4.8ghz ffs (ok it crashed in less than a minute) but it got up there and think it was the motherboard that fkd up. Ive had it for years and was really lucky with my chip.
Read a lot of forums and youtube good and bad but you give it good power and keep it cool and it will run 4.5ghz all day long. Idles at 31c runs BF4 at 51c and stress at 54c max for 20mins.
Im expecting the 3800X to be better but if it is as good as the fx8350 I'll be over the moon and then Im going to push it too, just to see what it can do :giggle:.
The thing I want to find out the most is if the 8350 was actually bottlenecking my 1080ti card or not, like in BF4 you run behind a wall and still get shot after you got there ! we'll see....
AMD at the moment are kicking the shit out of INTEL which is a good thing as it is bringing the prices down. Went with a X570 board to future proof it a bit and the new features and the 3600mhz memory so I dont need to oc that too. Should get it all tomorrow except the memory and 2 tubes of liquid metal....getting a bit excited :nailbiting::nailbiting::ROFLMAO:

Yeah ryzens like fast memory , as i saw on tests You should get a massive improvement (y)

Another long story
Got all the new stuff together x570 board 3800x chip and 3600 ram. Been fiddling with it but I could get more speed out of my fx8350 4.5ghz all day long. Managed 4.45ghz with the 3800x but really unstable, running at 4.219mhz at the moment 90% stable with this bench (multi thread)

1583535006075
The bios on this board is a minefield and the ram is running at 2400 I think, 3600 not yet supported. I think I just put it all to auto and forget about it.
Does look pretty though :)

I have always ran my PCs on auto or stock settings as I am 1. A coward, 2. Don’t know what I am doing 🙂

When I was having to use the PC for work editing photos as well as gaming reliability was absolutely necessary. I think I would take reliability of a little extra performance
